hello from Japan!

finally blogging... it's been a whirlwind lately. I got back to the states in October and moved at least once a month for five months. it didn't feel nice after vagabonding in Asia for three months! but I just thought about how I'd move here soon and live in one place for at least a year. I was so excited to come home and say ただいま (I'm home). but the way it happened was different from what I expected.

first I did company training in a training facility for almost a week with around 40 new English teachers. some of us couldn't move into an apartment right after that so we stayed in a hostel in Tokyo. when it was time for me to pick up the key for my new place I got delayed waiting for クロネコ the delivery company and didn't have any time to buy a bed. I barely made it to get my key from the real estate office but just missed my luggage delivery (I'm only guessing because they didn't leave a note). I had my toothbrush but that was it. I spent the first night on the floor in my jacket.

it took me literally 15 minutes to figure out how to open my door the first time. it's this bizaare flat disk 'key' and it's not that complicated but it was dark out and I had no idea. I almost cried. the power had to be turned on by flipping a circut breaker switch, but I didn't know where it was and couldn't see anything. I walked into my place for the first time wispering ただいま in a scared and frustrated voice.

it all worked out in the end. I got the gas turned on and finally figured out a phone plan in Japanese. I feel like a three year old doing grown up things. I don't really say tadaima when I come home most of the time because I'm not coming home to anyone. I don't like living alone. I haven't made friends in my town yet. I like everyone at work though. it's mostly singing Beatles songs. the hardest part is waking up early. there's another funny story about getting to work but I'll save it for later.

PS: I don't know if I can post photos because I'm using a stupid-phone and don't have a computer. I'll try to figure it out though.
