vanishing photos

I just found out about an exhibit in Tokyo showing photos found in the debris from the tsunami last year.
most are discolored and fading which is sad, but it creates a new installation.
I'm interested in temporary art, or natural changes that take place because of chemical processes.
I see it as a metaphor for the change in environment and the lives of everyone who was affected by the tsunami. I wonder if it was intended that way.
